Start your year with purpose! Discover how to set faith-based goals for spiritual growth, mental well-being, and a healthier, happier life.
As we step into a new year, many of us set resolutions for better health, stronger relationships, and personal growth. But what if this year, we approached our goals differently—grounding them in faith and aligning them with God’s plan for our lives?
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." This verse is a powerful encouragement that when we align our goals with God's purpose, we can experience true expansion—spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Here’s how you can set faith-based goals to make this your healthiest and happiest year yet.

Strengthen Your Spiritual Foundation
Before setting any goals, take time to seek God’s direction. Spend intentional time in prayer, asking Him to reveal the areas in your life that need growth.
Biblical Inspiration:
Jesus often withdrew to pray before making important decisions (Luke 5:16). When we make prayer a priority, we allow God to shape our desires and goals.
Faith-Based Goal Idea:
Dedicate time daily to reading the Bible and praying, even if it's just 10 minutes in the morning.
Memorize one new scripture each week to encourage and guide you.
Prioritize Emotional and Mental Well-Being
A healthy mind leads to a healthier life. Let go of past burdens, practice gratitude, and trust in God’s plan.
Biblical Inspiration:
In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded: "Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Faith-Based Goal Idea:
Keep a gratitude journal, writing down three things you’re thankful for each day.
Seek Christian counselling or join a support group to work through emotional wounds with biblical wisdom.
Take Care of Your Physical Health as a Temple of God
Our bodies are gifts from God, and taking care of them honours Him. Whether it's eating healthier, exercising, or getting enough rest, small steps toward wellness can make a big impact.
Biblical Inspiration:
In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul reminds us, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
Faith-Based Goal Idea:
Choose whole, nutritious foods that fuel your body.
Walk or exercise at least 30 minutes a day as a way to strengthen your body and clear your mind.
Grow in Your Relationships with Others
Faith isn’t just about our personal walk with God—it’s also about how we love and serve others. Make this year one of meaningful connections and selfless giving.
Biblical Inspiration:
Jesus commanded in John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
Faith-Based Goal Idea:
Be intentional about reaching out to family and friends—schedule regular calls or meetups.
Volunteer at church or in your community as an act of service.
Step into Your God-Given Purpose
God has placed unique gifts and callings in your life. This year, take a leap of faith in pursuing what He has put on your heart—whether it's starting a business, writing a book, or serving in ministry.
Biblical Inspiration:
In Jeremiah 29:11, God promises, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Faith-Based Goal Idea:
Write down one major goal that aligns with your passion and talents, then break it into small, actionable steps.
Trust God’s timing and take one bold step toward your calling, even if it feels uncomfortable.
A year of expansion isn’t just about achieving more—it’s about becoming the person God created you to be. When we set faith-based goals, we invite God into every part of our lives, leading to true joy, peace, and fulfillment.
Let this be the year you grow deeper in faith, live with intention, and embrace all that God has in store for you.
